Who doesn't appreciate a cake recipe that's super easy to make but looks and tastes elegant?
There are chocolate cakes and then there are chocolate cakes. This recipe is one of the latter. I like to think that this is the perfect adult chocolate cake - the kind you take along to any event and indulge in while the kids hover around a different table, eating the little people offerings. (Here's the perfect quick and easy chocolate cake recipe for kids.)
Having said that, my kids demolish this moist treat as soon as I give them the go-ahead, so clearly, it's a cake for everyone!
The Cadbury Drinking Chocolate Flourless Fudge and Almond cake has a crusty outer shell and a soft, fudgy centre. The almond meal adds the grainy 'flour' texture and the delicate taste that sets this bake apart from all others.
This cake is just so good and easily café quality without the cost. It's an impressive bake and one that has proven itself socially on countless occasions.
Everybody loves this!
The Cadbury Drinking Chocolate cake contains only 5 simple ingredients and they're all measured in 150 gram portions, making this the perfect quick treat to whip up while juggling demanding little people and multitasking - No thinking involved ever - I promise!
Cadbury Drinking Chocolate Flourless Fudge and Almond Cake
150 grams margarine (or butter),
150 grams Cadbury Drinking Chocolate,
150 grams almond meal,
150 grams caster sugar,
5 whole eggs.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
Weigh and mix dry ingredients into a large bowl with a wooden spoon.
Add eggs and melted margarine and stir until the batter becomes a smooth consistency.
Grease and line a regular sized cake tin and dust with flour.
Bake for approximately 45 minutes.
The cake is baked when the top is crusty and the centre still slightly soft. Don't try to dry out the cake by baking it longer as this 'fudgy wetness' is the desired outcome.
Cool the cake in the pan before turning it out onto a serving platter.
Dust generously with icing sugar to serve.
Serve with cream and strawberries to make a truly indulgent dessert.
Simple elegance!

DeleteThat fudgy goodness sounds awesome! Sweet things are my weakness at the moment. I have had my fair share of chocolate weet bix slice today, then I realised I hadn't drunk enough water, which I should have doing instead of going for sugar!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather go for the sugar too Alicia!
DeleteThat looks so very simple! And the eggs aren't a problem for me, I was actually wondering how I could use up my eggs because my chooks keep laying!
ReplyDeleteI remember that urgency to use up the excess eggs with chickens! This is perfect for that Eva. I can't tell you how good is tastes, you'll just have to try it. Let me know what you think. :D
DeleteYum, this sounds deliciously decadent.

ReplyDeleteI love how simple it sounds to make, yet looks so decadently delicious!

Being a big fan of chocolate cake, the gooier the better, this cake caught my eye. It sounds the business and is easy to make too. I guessing that almond meal is ground almonds?...Will give it a go anyway.

I like the sound of this. I usually bake with gluten free flour, which doesn't always come out so well. This sounds like a good one to try.
