Docket Diaries: Adventures With Shop A Docket Chapter Four and a Vlog!

*This Docket Diaries Campaign is brought to you in collaboration with Shop A Docket.

Oh...I feel like I just started this series and getting right into it too I was and here it is, drawing to a close so soon.

I am feeling mighty sad about that.

We've had a ball on our Shop A Docket adventures thus far and this, our last post in the Docket Diaries series, has produced an equally fun and painless family outing to share this week thanks to these little coupon deals, easing our day's duties.

Our essential (and previously boring) family outings have been wonderfully pain-free and even fun since Shop A Docket was introduced to the kiddos as a bribey-sweetener. We've regularly seen eager kids rushing out the door and into the car whenever a Shop A Docket is mentioned and that has been nothing shy of Blissful!

We've road-tested Indian meals, ice creameries and Subway on our prior outings with Shop A Docket - new things that will be now, forever-more, essential things in this family's busy repertoire.

Already you're probably wondering why my kids are sitting on skateboards here and what this could possibly have to do with Shop A Docket? No, there's no local coupon deal for a skateboard 'thing' that I am aware of but there's a little tale attached and of course, I am going to tell it...

Recently it came to my attention that my boys could skateboard. (Easter long weekend, a holiday at the beach - you can read all about it here.)

Now let me tell you now, I had no idea my kids could ride a skateboard - complete with amazingly skilled tricks and all!

Clearly I will not be qualifying for any Mother of the year awards at any stage.

Anyhoos, the younger boys began to whine about not having a skateboard of their own (over and over in that annoying kiddy way all li'l' peeps employ to harass adults) and Saturday, being Saturday, had a long list of things to do as per usual. Skateboards were never on that list of things to do mind you, but my boys found them in Big W anyway.

(...And those boards were on special and to add pleasure to a day of discounts, those boards even price-scanned incorrectly at the checkout which meant an even BIGGER discount in a day all about discounts - happy dance!)

Returning to task...shopping is hungry work isn't it? Processing all that sensory fun in department stores is brain-food-burning and before long, tummies were growling too and the dreaded whining began. So, out came the mobile phone with my Shop A Docket App for a quick check of the local offerings and up popped Taco Bill.

It's been years!

Taco Bill on Shop A Docket's App at our location were offering a 'buy one main meal and get another of equal or lesser value - free!' Excellent deal and perfect fare for a cool Autumn, Saturday afternoon post-shopping! (Plus it meant I would not have to cook dinner after our day at the stores - yippee!)

While our orders were prepared, (comprising of delicious beef fajitas and enchilada grandes), my little boy peeps tried out their new boards on the pavement out front, while I momentarily basked in the brief fantasy of being of Mother of the year thanks to the aura thrown off by my happy boys with their new toys, happy everyone while dinner was being cooked (by anyone but Mum!) and happy Mum because her entire day was pretty much a 50 per cent off everything type affair.

We were on a roll!

Rolling with crazy excitement of all kinds!
We didn't know we even had a Taco Bill restaurant in the surrounding area and being Mex food addicts, you can bet we'll be regulars now - especially with a coupon deal offering a free meal with the purchase of another to the value of $20! Considering the takeout menu for Taco Bill is pretty much all below $20 per main, that's a great deal. (They're large meals too.)

Yep, it was a totally winning day in so many ways.

And now a special treat for ye all to conclude my Docket Diaries series!

Since much of my focus in my Docket Diaries Adventures with Shop A Docket campaign has focussed on family, I figured a little entertainment was in order by the kiddos themselves.

And so I wrote this little song one morning and decided my boys would be pretty excited about performing it here for you...(Penned at 2.45am mind you - insanity I know, but when you've six kids, you do all kinds of daytime things, 24 hours a day just to cram it all in!)

(Watch how the toddler just weaves herself straight through the performance! :D)

  1. I used to be all about the shop-a-docket. Plenty of "holidays' were had at little shop-a-docket weekenders at the coast. Loved it. Haven't looked at the back of a shop-a-docket for about 15 years though. I just don't "see" them anymore. I'm now going to take the time to look!
    Leanne @ Deep Fried fruit

    1. Great Leanne! Sometimes things just blend right in don't they. I know what you mean, I had pretty much forgotten too until I commenced this series. Hope you find something fabulous. :D

    1. Thank you! It is pretty funny I know.
Don't worry about the expiry dates on the receipts so much. If you download the App, you'll always have the latest date. The App would be great for you and your family. x

  7. I checked my shop a dockets today for the first time in forever! Sadly there was nothing there for me, but they have improved.

    1. Check out the website and the App Jess. That's where you'll find many more offers. The receipts only have a small selection.

  8. Love the song! Our local shop a dockets are all pretty boring unfortunately.

    1. Try the website Tegan - you'll find many more there. Good luck!

    1. Oh I am so glad to hear that. Yes, my household is a ton of fun. There's loads of housework too sadly. I think Spiderman is rather hysterical too. :D
