Just one of the many items I believe all parents should own during the course of their parenting journey, are sleeping bags for children. If it's undisturbed sleep you're after, a sleeping bag can be golden. Nothing breaks up a well-deserved night's rest for everyone, like a child who is lost, tangled or uncovered in their beds.
If your child doesn't wake you due to the discomfort of it themselves, then the worry of whether they're comfortable or not will certainly keep you alert well into the night! It's one of those mothering things.
All of my babies were fitted into little sleeping bags from the moment they were no longer content with swaddling and they have remained a firm favourite at bedtime for many years from there onwards. Not just with myself, but the kids themselves. My kids have even in the past, insisted on being jammed into baggies that no longer fit just out of pure habit.
It's a case of whatever works isn't it!
Grobag are one of the well-known sleeping bag companies you're probably quickly able to recall off the top of your head. We have owned and loved several bags by this brand over time. They're memorable for their quality design and gorgeous nursery prints which help kids settle happily at the day's end.
I have only recently learned that Grobag make sleeping bags for not only babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers - but older kids too!
I have been breathing a sigh of relief at this news, as my toddler will one day grow out of the smaller size that she's currently enjoying and that leaves me with sleepless nights already! (We mums worry about all kinds of senseless things in the middle of the night don't we?!: Things that have happened, things that might happen, even things that probably won't happen...)
Anyhoos, we were sent a Grobag in a size 3-6 years to share with you here, which will be the next size up for my toddler when she's grown out of her current bags. Believe it or not, there's even a Grobag in a size 6-10 years!
Already my youngest sons, (aged 7 and 9) are pestering me for some sleeping bags of their own and I am seriously tempted. Less bedding to wash all-round is an attractive option. (I can average five wash loads a day as it stands.)
I am thrilled that, (when the time comes), my youngest daughter can upgrade to enjoy the comfort and security of this larger bag at night times. She's quite a long way off wearing this one just yet but I am happy about being a step-ahead nonetheless.
When I unpackaged this bag, I was surprised to find that the length of it stretched from my neck to my feet! (Did I mention it's huge?!)
It's HUGE
...and roomy and feels very plush and comfortable. I wish it fit me. (Actually, I think it possibly might!)
The Grobag is Australian Safety Standard approved and crafted in 100% cotton fabrics to allow your child to sleep comfortably all night long no matter what the temperature. It is available in a variety of TOGs: From 0.5 for heatwaves to 1, 2.5 (recommended for year-round comfort) and 3.5 TOG for very cold climates.

The Grobag in Starlight, size 3-6 years, 2.5 TOG. RRP $99. |
The Grobag has the thoughtful features throughout you expect, to keep your child safe and comfortable. I like the soft, piped edges that prevent the bag from cutting into your child's arms as they sleep. There's a safety cover over the zipper pull at each end to discourage young kids from fiddling while remaining easy enough to unzip for parents and toilet-training children.
This is the Starlight design which is suitable for both girls and boys. The bag is equipped for travel too and features built-in areas for a 5 point safety harness. If you're going on a long road trip, this could be the best way to keep your young child warm in the car.
You can buy the featured 3-6 years Grobag at The Gro Store. The fashionable and unisex design featured in this review is called Starlight and this is the 2.5 TOG, 3-6 year travel Grobag.
The RRP of this bag is $99.
There are so many beautiful designs for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and beyond and you can browse the full Growbag range here.
Would your bigger kids love the Grobags for older children too?

We've used grobags since my son was born, he has just learned to stay out of a sleeping bag for winter and under his blankets but we may move him back in over summer. We love the quality of them compared to other brands and they keep our kids snug or cool, whatever the season. We are now using them once more with our 4 month old baby girl, she sleeps better in them :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win a size 0-6 months for my little girl to wear as the weather warms up. She was born at a different time of year to her brother, so we're not very prepared for under 6 months and warm weather :)
I am a Furious Traveler and my kids need a sleeping bag like this can you send me a discount link. Thanks
DeleteYou know there are heaps of sleeping bags out there on the market now, but I always go with Grobag because I feel like I'm buying the original and the best. You just know they're all quality and we want that for our wee ones don't we? You don't want to just make do with some things and these are pretty. Seriously pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a 6-12 months one please if I'm the winner! Vicki Doak
Oh, I think on Twitter you'll find me under @Knockedupandabr :)
DeleteOh this would be perfect for Miss 3 who is a dedicated cover-kicker-offer!
ReplyDeleteI have only just started using gro bags for my daughter and can't believe I waited this long to start. She is an avid wriggler and it was a constant struggle to keep her blankets on and keep her warm. Now she stays warm and secure all night and it allows me to sleep better knowing she is safe. They also come in handy to keep her warm in the mornings while I do the house work. My favourite thing about them though is how adorable and cuddly she looks in them. Joni Langos

ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a Gro Bag yet, still swaddling, but my little girl is wriggling out of her wrap now so hearing all the wonderful reviews, I'd love to try one.
ReplyDeleteI think these Grobags are amazing and I wish they made them in bigger adult sizes, they'd be perfect for Winter, keep all you feet & legs warm. I'd love to win the Rose Garden Grobag in a Size 4 please - my name is Juanita Torr. Thank you for the opportunity to win one :)
ReplyDeleteI love how my sleep hater wouldn't be able to kick off this like she does with blankets and that I can up her into the care and still know that she'll be warm. My name is Erin Panesar
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I never used a grobag?
ReplyDeleteThey aren't necessary in Darwin and by the time we moved south, all the kids were too big. I've heard such good things about them though.
I love the fact that they come in larger sizes. Most brands stop at 36mths and I've been dreading her getting that old because we wouldn't be able to get bags anymore. She's really bad with covers so I want to use sleeping bags for as long as we can {because I like sleeping at night lol}. Toni Welch.
ReplyDeleteHow brilliant! I've been wondering how to transition my little one when she grows out of her current size. Seems there's no need! - Amelia
ReplyDeleteTo keep the little one warm since she is constantly kicking her blankets off!
ReplyDeleteI love not having to worry at night about bub kicking off his blankets
ReplyDeleteJust the thing for my little granddaughter
ReplyDeleteLove that they keep my kids cozy!
ReplyDeleteZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
ReplyDeleteI (Karen Collins) love that I get a good nights sleep because my son doesn't wake up shivering after kicking off his blankets or panicking because he is tangled up in them. I'd love a 6-18 month Grobag to keep up the sleep!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Scott Crumlin. The fact they 'grow' with them means their favourite 'snuggle' sleep time sleeping bag will be there to comfort them and make them fall asleep quicker longer.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect bag for baby number 3
ReplyDeleteHopefully it means a full nights sleep for me
Keep him warm on those crisp, cool nights
Nice and snug and wrapped up tight!!!!
Love gro bags as they keep my babies snug all night but also keep them safe by not allowing them to climb out of their cot.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I love most about Grobags is that it keeps the kids warm. My eldest son hated having covers on, so our grobag back then was a lifesaver! Thankfully my second son keeps the covers on, because we seem to have lost our Grobag in-between moves... :(
ReplyDelete-Talia
Love Grobags! They seriously are the best and I truly believe they make kids sleep better. Great review and giveaway!

ReplyDeleteIm using a hand me down on baby number 3 and its seen better days a love the age range my little miss is 2 and a half so it would last a long time
ReplyDeleteKaren Edwards
My 6 month old daughter has just moved to sleeping in her cot. With summer around the corner and the newly discovered joys of rolling and moving, a grobag would be perfect for ensuring she is comfortable and sleeps well. Megan Higgs
ReplyDeleteI love how it makes the transition from swaddling simple easy and stress free.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see that I can move up in stages according to age - the comfort and temperature regulation keep both the baby and me anxiety free.
Amanda
I'm about to become an Aunt for the first time. My little niece is about to be welcomed into the world hopefully in the next 24 hours. This would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'd love the biggest possible one as my children are older, and I love the star design!
ReplyDeleteWe are massive on the sleeping bag at our house. Sheets never stay on and for my peace-of-mind sleeping bags on the kids are the go. Karin O'Grady
ReplyDeleteMine haven't been in grobags for ages! They are just fabulous for those that like to kick blankets off in the night. I love that they are able to be used in a car seat too. My girls would just love these. They love to use the sleeping bags at the holiday house and this would be the best of both worlds.
ReplyDeleteGrobags are the best sleeping bags. No need to get all tangled in bedding.
ReplyDeleteMy son is arriving soon and I can already imagine how cute he would be snug in these adorable Grobags.
ReplyDeleteIs it lame to say one of the reasons I love grobags is because I love the patterns? I LOVE gro bags I send my son to day care with his (he gets to take his own 'bed' for naps). We use both the travel and the side zip bags but personally I prefer the side zip because I can transfer a sleeping baby into the bag easily without waking him, or if he is totally desperate after his bath for a feed he can be breastfed and bagged for bed at the same time. I would really love to win a 3-6 year old bag for bubs when he transfers to the big bed (he is only 1 but he is in the 18-36 month bags already). Lydia A
ReplyDeleteMy little one will not sleep unless he is in a grow bag, so glad they make them in big sizes these days!
ReplyDeleteThis would be amazing for my little man as he is constantly kicking off his blanket. The starlight is a great choice as I could use this for both boys and girls :)
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that there would be no more wake up calls due to kicking off the blankets. Great idea
ReplyDeleteComfort all year round without deciding whether the blanket needs to be on or off!? I want one for myself! All snug and wrapped up, and so long to fit those growing legs in comfortably.
ReplyDeleteWould love the gorgeous Baby Mine design!
DeleteAleisha Davidson
Must keep winning awards for a reason!
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect for cold weather to keep them cozy, but awesome for summer for trips away so easy.
ReplyDeleteLaura Scriven
I love that my little ones cannot pull grow bags over their heads and I can sleep better knowing that!
ReplyDeleteI love the Carnival 18-36m 1.0 tog Travel Gro.
Emma Puszkar
it would be brilliant for when the colder weather occurs! mr 5 always loses his blankets and wakes up to come into our bed I would love to try something like this!!
ReplyDeleteKerryanne Bourke
The option of being able to purchase 100% organic
ReplyDeleteCourtney Brideson
These are fantastic. No more having to worry about blankets being kicked off during the night. Love them. Would love the 3-6 year old 2.5 TOG.
ReplyDeleteAlicia Bardsley.
My daughter never stays under the covers, she also loves her little sister's sleeping bags. She would think it was so neat to have her own! Melinda Bolitho
ReplyDeleteI love that they can't kick them off in their sleep like blankets...So I know they will stay warm all night long
ReplyDeleteMichelle Hunt
DeleteThey can't get tangled up, they can't kick them off and I know he's going to be safe and warm throughout the night!
ReplyDeleteEva Kiraly
I've seen so many reviews of these babies and love to try one for baby number 2 due soon little boy much excitement
ReplyDeleteSleeping can be such a drag and worrying for mums and dad's. Are they comfy, are they warm?. Much discussion to be had. A secure option is now found, and not looking like a dag. A cosy, warm (hopefully)...peaceful sleep - thank to a cool Grobag!

ReplyDeleteI'd love to win as my little but not so little 12 month old has just gotten too tall for the 12-18months bags we have, bigger sizes is a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win because I have heard friends RAVE about Grobags and would like to try it for myself when our little one arrives!
ReplyDeleteI adore the 0-6month Tribal Travel Grobag, perfect for long car trips when you still want Bub to be snuggly and warm.
Trish Welsh
With my first due in June when it's quite chilly, I'd love my baby to have BAGS of warmth to help him or her get through the night. Grobag are the best at getting a baby to sleep well and cosy too!

ReplyDeleteI'd love to win one because it might prevent our little co-sleeper from kicking us in the head! Ha-ha! But more importantly, it keeps little bubs nice and snug without overheating. Perfect for transitioning between wrapping and sheets. I'd love a 6-12 month grobag. Thanks, Michelle Sheriff
ReplyDeleteMy son has clubfoot and wears boots & bar to bed everynight. Sleeping bags are a must so he doesnt become tangled in bedsheets. His treatment is long term and will need to wear the boots & bar every night for 14 hours until he is 5 years old. The larger sized Grobags will be excellent, so happy they make them so large! No getting cold in winter!
ReplyDeleteTara Tarca
Tara, this prize is definitely coming your way - congratulations and I hope you find it so useful for your little boy. All the best! I will be in touch with you shortly to organise your prize. Thanks so much for entering everyone!
