Zara Darcy Alessandro Review - Win a Baby Bag Worth $199! #SLHFeaturedThursdays

Motherhood - it's exhausting work isn't it and not a soul alive will contest that fact. Between the endless nappy changes, sleepless nights, messiness, tetchy moments and learning curves that come with the territory, it's also the most precious ride you'll ever have. Enjoy it.

It can all be a hard serve to digest when you've come from a long stint in a career you've loved. Not only has your personal freedom flown with your new role, but your self image takes a beating too. Bodies change with pregnancy, birth and beyond, there's little time left to maintain yourself and you can often find yourself daydreaming as a result, remembering the clothes you once wore...the shoes...

...those bags!

There's no doubt about it, motherhood isn't glamorous for the vast majority of us, but with a well-designed baby bag at your side, you can certainly make the best of the circumstances...

Meet gorgeous Australian designer baby bag label Zara Darcy and the prestigious appeal of the Alessandro baby bag.

Zara Darcy bags are the creation of a mum who, following a passion for all things designer, was left feeling disheartened when it came to sourcing an attractive and glamorous baby change bag when the need called.

Zara Darcy bags fill an important niche for mums who want to maintain a degree of their former selves in their current circumstances. These bags walk a perfect balance between the appeal of those former aesthetics and combine them with the practicality required by all mums - a modern designer exterior and purpose-built interior. Just perfection!

Zara Darcy bags can easily serve the needs of both mums and non-mums alike - which is fantastic, because I definitely recommend mums should choose a quality baby change bag that will travel with them for years, from baby to toddler, childhood and beyond and not just serve a purpose in the early days.

This is certainly one of those bags!

From my first sight of this bag in real life, I was quite blown-away by the quality of its features. No doubt you'll agree, it's a gorgeous bag based just on these images alone. What makes this bag so stand-out, (apart from the distinctive designer appeal), is the shiny, genuine patent leather trim offset against the gold hardware. No cost-cutting there. Already I can see this bag serving me well for years and in so many ways beyond my baby days.

The gold-plated Zara Darcy name-plate

The body of this bag is crafted in a very thick nylon twill. It has an attractive matt look against the gloss of the trim and gleam of the gold. All hardware is heavy duty and great quality. In a baby bag, this is an essential; these accessories are dealt a proper beating during their years of service!

Importantly, this beautiful bag is loaded with plenty of functional pockets for toting everyone's needs.
The front of the bag has one large zip-around compartment that's perfect for your own items or for stowing a handy pack of wipes. There's also a smaller slip-pocket on the front of this. The rear of the bag has yet another large zippered compartment for the safe-keeping of your wallet, keys or phone.

Every zippered compartment has thoughtful large zipper pulls in patent leather for ease of access.

The rear of the Zara Darcy Alessandro bag

Pockets, pockets, glamour and more! The outer small slip pocket quickly fastens with a concealed magnetic snap
for the safe-keeping of mobile devices.

Inside the Alessandro it's roomy, roomy, roomy! You can pack your needs easily within the gorgeous cream-lined satin interior. Again, more pockets than you might need so remember where you put everything!

In truth, you really can't have too many pockets in a change bag and these ones are more than adequate. There are pockets for bottles, nappies, wipes, two zippered wall pockets and two open flat pockets which are suitable for tech devices. There's a built-in key clip too.

The removable Zara Darcy insulated bottle bag comes with its own clip to attach to any convenient place.

Creamy satin lining and great quality zippers.

All Zara Darcy bags come with the mummy inclusions you expect to find inside a baby bag: A generous sized, logo-bearing change mat, a clear zippered and removable wet purse or cosmetics purse (I use mine for first-aid bits and bobs which the older kids are forever in need of) and an insulated bottle bag.

The genuine leather twin patent handles are comfortable to wear, as is the entire bag.
Remember how I said this bag will travel with you for years? Well, when your baby days are over, the entire lining can zip out to reveal a regular handbag lining in the exact same cream satin with fewer pockets, effectively turning your Zara Darcy Alessandro back into a normal handbag or laptop bag!

The Alessandro also comes with a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap to use as you please. Plus there are handy outside pockets for carting sippy cups or your own drink bottle. It also comes with a dust bag for storage.

All things considered, I think this is a top-notch baby bag and very much adore wearing it. It makes a great outfit look complete and the average mummy uniform look far more fashionable.

The Zara Darcy Alessandro is priced at $199 and comes in the jet black colour or a stunning chocolate. (View the Zara Darcy Alessandro in Brown here.) Currently Zara Darcy are having an end of season sale and you can purchase this stunning bag for just $120 with free shipping included for a limited time.

  10. So stylish and a great size too. A zip out lining is ingenious.. I end up having to chuck out my bads when the lining gets too manky.

  11. I seriously need a nappy bag that says meow! Well, not literally but in style, ya know? I'm allergic to daggy nappy bags and lets be frank, they flood the market, but it's not easy to find classy ones. So thanks for the lead. I'll definitely go into the ring for this one. Looks like it could be nappy bag by day and transform into night bag too if needed. I rate that.

  16. I am so sick of carrying around my big ugly obvious baby bag! I want... no I NEED this gorgeous bag! Something so sexy and classy, no one would ever guess it was to be filled with nappies and wipes. With something like that over my arm, I might feel slightly less mumsy and a little more human. I'd love to win this!

Since launching my business 18 or so months ago I have been searching for a handbag that looks great, fits my files, purse, snacks, umbrella, cardigan - living in Melbourne one must be prepared for any and all weather - drink bottle, phone and tablet. The Alessandro bag looks like exactly the bag I am after! Bec (Rebecca) Carroll-Bell.

  45. Oh my - I love all of it?! But especially the gorgeous gorgeous look of it and also the organised space within! I am FOREVER losing things, and rummaging around inside my bag, desperately trying to find keys/phone/purse/wipes/snacks whatever is instantly required. All whilst trying not to lose the toddler or preschooler as they take advantage of my distraction!! I would love this to add some desperately needed pizazz and organisation to my frazzled self! 71. I, Holly Hussey am truly embarrassed when people notice the nappy bag that I get around with. My poor old steelcraft nappy bag is coming apart all over & it is becoming difficult to cart around all of the items my boys need, as the two end sections hang open now since stitching came away & cannot be used any longer. Please save me the shame & embarrassment, choose me to receive this stunning bag & allow me to feel proud of my nappy laden bag once again 😊
