Becoming a parent makes you do a complete about-turn when it comes to choices. There's a huge drive to go natural in every possible way from the outset. While some of that push is financially driven, (parenthood is an expensive and decades-long costly affair), much of it is a conscious decision to improve our planet, starting in the smallest of ways, for the sake of our littlest people.
I am a 'natural' devotee in many ways these days. It's no longer an extraordinary thing to demand the purest available. It's something so many of us want, whether we're parents or not and that's a fabulous shift for our precious planet.
Kelapa Organics is one such Melbourne born and bred company that gets this universal desire. They produce a beautiful range of natural products to support those of us with specific needs and those without too, who simply care to seek alternatives.
As a mum who personally suffers from skin sensitivities and who has several kids who have inherited some of my own issues (such as eczema and dryness), you can bet I am always keen to learn of new products that can support us. We were so grateful to receive some beautiful products from this company in the post to try and they were put to use immediately.
Kelapa Organics have been around with a successful adult skin and hair care range for some time now. Very recently, they introduced a brand new baby care range that's suitable for kids of all ages. We were stoked to try it out! (Big skin and hair care fans over here.)
For us grown ups, we tested the beautiful Shampoo for Normal Hair which is formulated with organic coconut oil. (The entire Kelapa Organics range is based on this wonderful ingredient with natural antioxidant and moisturising properties.) The delicate scent of this all-natural product is stunning. There's a hint of vanilla and almond. (Two of my personal favourites.) It emulsifies beautifully and it's free of petro chemicals, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and artificial preservatives.
Kelapa Organics Conditioner for Normal Hair is equally as lovely. It has a fresh scent and a light and creamy texture. It contains Kakadu Plum Extract which is the world's richest natural source of vitamin C and it's native to Australia. Importantly, both of these products are so gentle on sensitive scalps. If you have scalp issues, do try these! Both of the Kelapa Organics hair care products shown retail for $24.95 each. These are ideal for all ages too.
Now for the newest additions to Kelapa Organics - the baby care range.
In our home, the baby care range in any brand extends indefinitely to kids of all ages. I don't think gentle-use products should be discarded after a child reaches a certain age, especially if they have delicate skin.
Kelapa Organics Baby Shampoo and Body Wash is so beautiful! This has a divine natural scent of orange and lavender. There's nothing unnatural in this blend whatsoever. The fact that this is a multi-use product is fantastic too. It's so simple to use and very, very gentle. This would be so versatile for travelling families - you'll only ever need one bottle to complete a successful bath time with this hair and body all-in-one. RRP $21.95.
Lastly, Kelapa Organics Baby Lotion. This smells sooo good!
With the coming of the cooler months, it's helpful to have something light and non-greasy on standby to keep young bodies soft and protected. This lotion has sweet almond oil and organic coconut oil. Use it after bath times to prevent dry skin from developing. I warn you though, the scent of this lotion makes little ones especially cuddly!!
The Baby Lotion is also a great hand cream. I like to wipe a little extra on my own skin after bathing the kids for some extra protection of my own. RRP $24.95. That's what's really enjoyable about naturally-sourced products - they are versatile and non-harming. I adore this range.

ReplyDeleteMy tip.. My little blonde girl loves to swim and suffers heavy metal green hair. I use vinegar on her hair then a lovely organic shampoo and conditioner then after a quick spray with Argan oil. Before she swims I have a bottle of mixed conditioner and rain water I spray her with to stop the bulk of the heavy metals sticking. Natalie Murnane

ReplyDeleteEczema is my challenge. Other than medication, and treating the sores, it's light cotton all year round, moisturise a few times a day, cool showers, carefully choosing the right soaps, shampoos and conditioners, short fingernails so she can't scratch. Hair tired off the back of the neck and lip balm. So far We have gone 12 months without a major flare up. Would love to try kelapa organics on her. I have yet to find my one regular go to product.
Congratulations Lisa, I hope this provides some relief to your child. I am sure you will find the range as beautiful as we did.

ReplyDeleteMy number one beauty tip is to always drink lots of water and never sleep with make-up on. For my child, my tip is to always make them wear sunscreen even if it's not sunny.
I feel natural is best. Less chemicals, more organic. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and ready to face the world! :)
ReplyDeleteDon't wash your hair too often, it takes the natural oils out of your hair and ends up being oilier, turning into a catch 22 situation.
ReplyDeleteEva Kiraly
