Chicken burgers in wraps make ideal lunch options for kids. Children usually consume anything readily, when served in a wrap and with great enthusiasm too! The roll-up nature of flat breads, makes it easy to deliver an array of healthy options within, that's also easy for kids to handle and consume.
Steggles Crumbed Chicken Burgers tucked inside flat breads are a superb way to present a decent-sized portion of protein into the diets of children. Served alongside tasty vegetables and a slice of novelty-shaped cheese, it becomes an ideal and well-rounded meal.
We've combined the best of these two child-friendly meal options with extras, and come up with these delicious Aussie Chicken Burger Wraps. These are kid-tested and approved and bound to be an instant hit!
Delicious Steggles Aussie Chicken Burger Wraps
Preparation time: 15 minutes.
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes (depending on cooking method selected).
Serves per pack: 11. (Per 1kg pack of Steggles Crumbed Chicken Burgers.)
*All quantities are based on a 1kg packet of Steggles Crumbed Chicken Burgers.
1 kg pack of Steggles Crumbed Chicken Burgers
1, 500gm block of Tasty cheese. (The cheese will be cut into star shapes so choose a good quality that does not crumble or opt for a package of 12 pre-sliced tasty cheese slices instead.)
3 large tomatoes, washed and sliced.
1 head of lettuce, washed and shredded.
1 squeezy package of mayonnaise
1, 12 pack of white or wholemeal flat bread wraps.
1 star shaped cookie cutter
1 packet of Australian flag toothpicks for decoration (optional), or aluminium foil / greaseproof paper or paper bags to secure the wraps and serve.
Preheat oven according to Steggles Crumbed Chicken Burgers packet directions for your chosen cooking method. (As a general rule, the burgers cook at 180 degrees for 20 minutes via most methods.)
Slice the cheese and press out a series of stars using the star-shaped cookie cutter.
Prepare the tomato and lettuce according to the directions above and set all aside.
Cook the burgers and when done, slice each individual burger into threes.
Preheat the flat breads according to the packet directions, either in an oven or microwave.
To prepare each chicken wrap, place individual sliced burgers inside each warmed wrap.
Then top each burger with lettuce,
Two slices of tomato, a squirt of mayonnaise, and a cheesy star.
Fold each burger wrap firmly beginning with the base first, followed by each of the sides. Secure the wraps with the Australian flag toothpicks or wrap firmly in greaseproof paper or aluminium foil.
Serve while hot and enjoy!
Additional tips: Cheese stars can be popped inside the wraps last after they have been rolled if the cheese is crumbly to prevent breakage. Try other sauces within the burgers such as Aioli or even a tomato sauce. Experiment with in-season fruits such as pineapple or a slice of orange within the wraps to give a sweeter taste.
