Recaro Easylife Ultra-Lightweight Stroller Review and Win a Recaro Stroller Valued at $499!

The attractive new Recaro Easylife ultra-lightweight stroller is a pusher we've long dreamed of owning, in an extended history of pram ownership.

Strollers have invariably been the choice of parents who want convenience and maneuverability at their fingertips in order to navigate the populated pavements of urban life with their children. This attractive and superbly designed stroller, which is new to Australian shores by seating experts Recaro, (manufacturers of aircraft and motor racing seating worldwide), is the award-winning result of Recaro's expansion into the field of children's car seats and the mainstream pusher market.

Winner of the UK 'Loved By Parents Gold Award' for Best Lightweight Stroller
and the Bronze Award for 'Best Stroller.'

There are so many features this push chair owns, that are to be celebrated. For starters, the Recaro Easylife stroller is ultra-lightweight, weighing in at just 6.5kgs. Parents can manage this one easily with just one arm, a feature not lost on mums who juggle their kids, nappy bag, shopping and all of the additionals that come with the role.

We chose the Recaro Easylife stroller in this attractive Granite colour which we think sets it apart in a sea of otherwise black prams. (If black is your colour of choice however, it's also available in this trusted shade.)

The fabric canopy on the Recaro Easylife stroller is flexible and durable, and offers five different positions to keep your child protected from the elements. This has a UPF 50 plus rating, providing excellent protection from the sun's harmful rays. Thoughtfully, the canopy is also water resistant, keeping rain showers and inevitable spills from penetrating the luxe woven fabric. There's also an easy-to-use magnetic window flap that enables parents to keep an eye on their child from above at all times.

The body of the stroller contains several breathable mesh panels to facilitate air flow. For younger children who need to nap, the Recaro Easylife boasts a continuous recline feature. Together, when combined with the canopy, these elements provide a great level of comfort on-the-go for very young children. This all equates to less hassle for you when out and about.

An included cup holder, safety wrist strap and the easy-fold mechanism are all at your fingertips.

One very notable aspect of this stroller, is the easy, one-handed pram folding mechanism. Simply slide the lever on the handlebar to unlock the folding mechanism, then twist it forward to fold the pram completely in one swift move. The compact pushchair collapses smoothly for stowage every time.

Even better again, the Recaro Easylife folds down to an extremely small size which is ideal for travel of all kinds, including every parents' nightmare - airline travel!

For parents who want the convenience and security of their pushchair right up to the airline gates and beyond, this is your pram of choice. At only 6.5kgs in weight and free-standing, its folded size is fully-compliant with most airline carry-on baggage restrictions. Folded, this stroller measures just 58cms high by 48cms width. Managing it closed is akin to toting a small carry-on bag.

This lightweight stroller makes outings anywhere a breeze. Public transport trips, expeditions in small cars, outings to busy shopping malls, long walks anywhere and tight spaces of all kinds are each examples of the conquerable journeys and built-in capabilities this pushchair can manage.

Beneath the Recaro Easylife stroller is an included shopping basket for storing your on-the-go essentials. This is small in size, but generous too, given the extensive capabilities of this pushchair which stretch beyond those of the average stroller.

The pusher also has puncture-proof EVA tyres and all-wheel suspension. There is a comfortable footrest and a dual foot brake as well as a swivel lock brake, giving it all the comfort and safety features of a regular stroller with obvious benefits.

Recaro's expertise in industry seating is fully apparent when you take a look at the pram's designer detailing, minus your child. There is ample padding within, as well as easy to adjust shoulder straps to accommodate your growing child. The 5 point safety harness will secure your child in comfort. This stroller is suitable for children aged from 6 months and up to 23kgs in weight. It will see most families through their pushchair years, easily and capably.

The Recaro Easylife lightweight stroller is priced at RRP $499 in Australia. For stockists, please visit The Amazing Baby Company.

Our verdict: A fantastic pushchair with superb extras for highly mobile families. If you travel on a regular basis, (or plan to down the track), consider this stroller your go-to model which will save you from the omnipresent perils of transit with kids. This pusher is extremely well-designed, featherweight, (compared to similar models with less-impressive features) and encapsulates all the features of a full-size pram at a fraction of the size and cost. If you are in the market for a pushchair, purchasing this Recaro Easylife will ensure you are well covered for whatever the future may bring. We one-hundred percent recommend this impressive stroller to our readers.

  4. I would love to win a Recaro Easylife Ultra-Lightweight Stroller. It'll offer comfort to my baby while not compromising his safety. It'll also save my back as it's lightweight, weighing a mere 6.5kg and it can be operated by one hand. It has a big shopping basket and is slim enough for me zip down the shopping aisles with ease and because it's a Recaro which hubby is a fan of their racing seats, he might actually be willing to help with the grocery shopping (at least that's how I'll angle it to him; zipping down shopping aisles with a Recaro) - Kaman Yu

  7. I have a cheap travel stroller that I've used on my o/s trips. It's ok but this would be amazing! Plus I am such a fan of the Recaro brand- very disappointed we couldn't purchase their 0-4 seat as it's what I have in the States and it's awesome. My husband races cars so I know the history and testing Recaro bring to their product and know it's unmatched.

  10. Ok, so total non parent comment disclaimer here haha - I've heard people say they have to get a bigger car for having kids and I'm like why can't you just buy a smaller pram? I thought they didn't exist any more or anything but I'm glad to see they do!

  19. A mid morning nature walk is how I get my son to sleep. The Recaro would give him a great view of his surroundings and offer great comfort. Currently I stroll him in a secondhand, cumbersome pram which is heavy and leaves my shoulders as stiff as Frankenstein. JODY SMITH

  20. Have you ever been to Japan? We did...last year. Wonderful place! Except when you have a screaming, tired toddler. We were walking along in Akihabara, Tokyo, with hundreds of others when little Miss 1.5 had a melt down! I'm talking the works: screaming, kicking, arching the back, slapping arms, bucking. Thank God for renting a Recaro Easylife. I popped it up and stuffed her in it within seconds, arms and legs flailing. I was able to run away from the sea of disapproving eyes quickly back to our hotel. Thank you Recaro! Thank you for the one handed open fold. Thank you for the easy buckle harness. Thank you for the storage and maneuverability. You saved my face that day...I'll never forget you. TARA WAN

  29. Recaro's entry into the Australian market is long overdue! We've been lacking a pram that ticks all the boxes in terms of style, intelligent design and safety. True to Recaro form, this stroller doesn't disappoint! Another success from the design team. I can't wait for my baby boy to have his first Recaro stroller and car seat! We travel extensively and just like their aircraft seats, this stroller will make our transits so much more comfortable and enjoyable- and we'll look great doing it! Cassie Mackie

  30. Growing up in a family of 7 traveling was always tricky. We had the ugly orange ford falcon station wagon (no air con) *ugh.. the equivalent of your mum taking you to school in her pj's kind of car. Anyhow I stopped at 2 gorgeous children but my younger sister has number 4 due in March with 3 under 6 already :) she could use some practicality, functionality and the lighter her load the better for her ever growing adorable family. With 3 girls she's finally getting her boy... needless to say dad is happy too.

  33. Eeek. This stroller sounds like a dream come true. As a single mum with recurring shoulder dislocations, I only just gained my Learner driver licence and can't learn because of the shoulder instability. I walk/catch transport everywhere! This stroller would make my main concern, being getting toddler+bulky pram+bags onto the train in regional NSW to Sydney to see my family, a thing of the past. No more booking specific seats and fretting when there is nowhere to jam the monster pram I currently have. This almost sounds too good! This nifty stroller from Recaro would be my superhero!

  35. Would love to win as im sick of lugging my big strider pram around as its so impractical as its so big and bulky, hardly fits down shopping isles and takes up so much boot space. Would love something compact and in one piece that my 1 yr old would actually sit in!

  40. Why have I not seen this before?!
The Recaro Easylife's one-handed pram folding mechanism means I don't need a construction certificate for set up or to dismantle it.
I've encountered so many prams and strollers that are more complicated than putting together IKEA furniture!

  41. I'd love to win a new stroller! I use a stroller every day for Miss 2 on our daily walk to and back from school, plus trips to the playground, lakes, etc (lucky for us everything is in walking distance). This is also the same stroller we take on our holidays. On our first holiday to Bali, it didn't survive the trip in the luggage hold very well, it still is lopsided despite hubby's best efforts to straighten it, and I refuse to buy a new one! Being able to take one as carry-on would be a fantastic help for those long commutes around the air terminals.

Hi, I would love a new stroller. I was recently in a pretty serious car accident and wrote off my car (luckily baby was not in there at the time). Unfortunately not only did my little family lose our only vehicle but also my baby's pram which was in the back got damaged and now needs repair or replacement. This would help us out so much <3

  49. At the moment, the shopping basket’s the best thing for me
It’s not very easy, shopping hands-free!
It’s a bit of a mess, when the kids have grabbing hands
And you’re talking to people at the produce stands
Everything else seems perfect as well
But it’s just that today was my shopping hell
    Bags split, fruit went flying
And to top it all off, the baby was crying!
I got dirty looks from all the cashiers
I was very nearly in a puddle of tears
Little things like this really do help with life
Because design is nice, but shopping bags get you out of strife!

Walking five days a week to school and daycare, pushing the big clunky pram, seriously, this shit is so unfair,
I whinged and whined and insisted I NEEDED a big one, oh you know me, Mrs Knows Everything and Always Right, I can't leave it there, no room apparently, so onto the train to go to work, and boy is it tight,
Filthy stares and comments from others can be seen and heard, I just wanna flip them the bird,
A lightweight Recaro has gotta be better than my piece of crappy, and the best thing, it will make me happy.

  55. Have always loved car racing. It's a family thing to do for us.. but the race tracks have bridges and tunnels. My big ole pusher is great for comfort. It's like a bedroom on wheels and can carry all the bedding they could ever need. However when I get near a flight of those stairs and try to drag it up and over I get a dozen guys running to help... and some of them where not going that way!! It is lovely that people want to help so much but I'm so out of Thankyou's by the end of a day. Something lightweight would be a dream.

  56. My inlaws are overseas,
So a stroller would make the trip a dream.
    No bulky items for us,
    We'd travel without much fuss!

  57. Sounds amazing just with the one handed folding and 6.5kg weight! No more light packing on family holidays because we would get our boot space back. And puncture proof wheels, Omg gone are the days when i would have to take our first stroller to the servo to pump up the wheels lol!

  58. It looks so easy to fold and so love to try it mine is heavy and hard to use it for travel

  59. On our first holiday we're about to embark,
And traveling with kids is no walk in the park.
Since the baby pram has been out grown,
A light weight stroller we'd love to own.
To help navigate all the touristy sights,
And avoid the "I'm too tired to walk" fights.
So Six Little Hearts, we'd love to win,
And take the Recaro for a spin!

  60. Travel with children they say. It will be fun they say.
Rewind 5 years to travelling with our first born who loved the baby carrier. Perfect for flying I thought-baby close by and both hands free. A great idea...until you need to go to the toilet at the airport. It's such a juggle it should be an Olympic sport!
The next big trip was when this same child was 18 months and very active. For safety purposes we invested in a baby safety harness (something I'd sworn we would never own). All was good until he decided it was a great game to run as fast as he could until the cord I was holding would become so tight that he'd fall on his bum. He'd then roar with laughter! This was funny the first time, but that's where it stopped!
So now we are off overseas to visit relatives again. Our second child will be 12 months and even a bigger rascal than our first. Will I try the baby carrier or the baby harness again? I'm not that crazy!
The Recaro Easylife stroller would be the answer-being so light weight and manageable it would ensure that I could handle anything a 1 year old could throw at me (and more!)

  64. Do you know what is crazy and insane? That this stroller is 1.5kg LIGHTER than my three month old baby girl! She's my darling ray of sunshine, but she is off the percentile charts in length, all the seasonal clothing we bought or were given have never fit her because she is always one or two sizes ahead of what was predicted. She's almost grown out of her capsule now which means upgrading to a bigger rear-facing car seat, amongst other items which are all adding up. This pram would be a life saver for us. Up to 23kg should see us through a lot more growth!

Oh, not to mention this horrible summer we are sweltering through. That canopy with 50UPF rating would be ideal for us as we love getting out and about, but have been avoiding it lately because of sun safety concerns. Will also be heading back to university this year to continue my studies, so catching public transport and walking through the city multiple times a week to daycare and class is going to be what I look forward to. Recaro Easylife will definitely help manage that, especially when I get caught in peak hour commuting!

Thank you for the lovely giveaway Jody, so very generous of you!
