LeapFrog Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket Toy Review and WIN!

When it comes to spot-on toy picks for kids, you can't go past LeapFrog for tech-enhanced learning fun. The new LeapFrog Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket is a very sweet toy for young kids and it will provide plenty of fun play opportunities into the early primary school years.

When our daughter was just three, we bought her the earlier edition of this LeapFrog picnic basket play set to enjoy. To this day, she still regularly plays tea parties with it. It turned out to be a long term quality purchase with plenty of room to grow. When LeapFrog sent us the new Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket, she was as eager as ever to have a go. Despite being six years old, she's quite wrapped up in her new picnic set, and excited that her picnics can now be bigger affairs with even more play pals!

The LeapFrog Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket is as pretty as ever with cheerful colours and decals.
Built into the lid is a shape sorter with voice and sound features that are activated as your child slots the included foods into the appropriate holes. The lid of the basket is designed to identify the food shapes and colours, ultimately teaching children the same.

By lifting the lid, kids can enjoy all sorts of fun phrases. Further, while they play, the LeapFrog Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket chats away with a clear English accent. She, (the picnic basket), teaches good manners and plays happy songs that will enthrall the youngest of users. There are over 30 audio responses built into this toy. The audio can be switched off completely if desired.

Watch the pink rim of this basket light up as she chats to your child.

There are three modes of play embodied within the LeapFrog Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket. Children can choose to listen to music, learn shapes and colours or simply enjoy picnic time. There are two volume modes too.

Press the large Butterfly button to hear songs and snack requests.
We like this toy for its simple features, appealing look and play modes. The picnic basket has a very sweet 'persona' that will make children feel delighted and involved. This play set teaches vocabulary, colours, shapes plus food recognition. It will also assist your child to master their fine motor skills and matching powers. The many benefits of joyful pretend play with this cute toy cannot be overlooked.

The picnic inclusions are adorable! There are two oranges, two sandwiches, two watermelon slices and two biscuits. There are also two cups, forks, shape sorting plates, a traditional checked picnic tablecloth and it all fits into the basket for convenient play and pack up times. All items are child-sized for playing with real friends or imagined ones.

LeapFrog's Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket comes with included batteries already installed. This toy is recommended from 6 months of age and up. (Clearly don't limit this toy to the very young however as we think young primary kids will enjoy this too!) RRP is $34.95. Available now at Big W, Target, good toy stores and online retailers. This 16 piece toy is currently available in Pink or Yellow editions in stores.

  6. Picnics are are a wonderful family friendly event. Adventures, laughter, memories, sun and wonderful scenery.

    Pack up the basket,
    With nice food to eat.
    A red and white blanket,
So we have somewhere to seat.
    Cool drinks for drinking,
    If we get too hot.
    It's time for a picnic,
Ready, set, let's go and find the right spot.

  9. I could do with this for my daughter because she's always making a mess in the fridge looking for food for her little backyard picnics at least with this set I won't have a mess to clean up.

  10. We have such fun picnics inside when the weather is bad, it helps my children when the rain makes them sad.
We sit under the table, with a blanket on top. We clean up all the mess with a broom and a mop

  11. I haven't always had the best relationship with food and I certainly don't wait this for my kids. I think this basket is fab, it even talks! But most of all its a way to kick conversations about food and healthy eating habits with kids while having fun. I'd love it for my daughter
    Thanks
