  8. My daughter loves the idea of animals but is quite scared of them, whereas my son bounds in without a second thought for propriety (or rabies). These Lonely Planet books look like the perfect middle ground for both kids, as a way to satisfy both types of enthusiasm with great drawings, brilliant facts and enticing stories that are the hallmark of LPK.
